The Premier League returned this weekend for Gameweek nine of the season after a relatively exciting international break, which saw England beat Spain 3-2.

Saturday's fixtures involved three rivalries with Man United travelling to Stamford Bridge, Tottenham playing West Ham and Southampton visiting Bournemouth.

At Stamford Bridge it was almost more exciting off the pitch than on it, with Jose Mourinho at the centre of a touchline bust-up, whereas an outstanding performance from Hugo Lloris helped Spurs clinch the points from the Hammers.

You know all the scores but what about the moments you missed? Take a look through our gallery.

Mourinho Melee

Man United suffered a sucker punch when Ross Barkley equalised in the 96th minute in the early kick-off on Saturday, to deny Mourinho's men of a famous win.

Tensions were obviously high but it all boiled over when a member of Chelsea's backroom staff celebrated right in front of the United boss, something he didn't take too well.

What followed was a touchline fracas that ended with Maurizio Sarri and Mourinho shaking hands.

The offending coach was Marco Ianni, who has since been charged by the FA for his conduct.

After scoring twice to complete United's comeback at Stamford Bridge, Anthony Martial was hauled off by Jose Mourinho as he looked to defend their lead.

The Frenchman's reaction showed that he was more than disappointed to have been taken off.

Ross Barkley Continues Form

Chelsea's resurgence under Maurizio Sarri has been impressive with the majority of the squad all playing their part in their unbeaten start.

Obviously Eden Hazard is getting the headlines for his goals but Ross Barkley is finally showing the fans why Chelsea signed him.

His equaliser plus his performance against Spain for England made for a very good week for the midfielder.

Kompany Red Card?

Man City captain Vincent Kompany was very lucky to make it into the second minute of his side's game against Burnley after a horrible challenge on Burnley winger Aaron Lennon.

After receiving treatment, Lennon showed off the impact of the challenge and Burnley boss Sean Dyche revealed the midfielder had to have a couple of stitches at half-time.

Kompany wasn't the only lucky man at the Etihad...

Sane Red Card?

Leroy Sane was also lucky to not see his challenge on Matt Lowton awarded a red card by referee Jon Moss.

Despite the hosts leading 5-0, Sane kicked out in frustration at the right-back, making no real attempt to play the ball.

Should City's Second Stood?

In all honesty, City can count themselves as very lucky on Saturday, two potential red cards not given and their second goal shouldn't have stood.

After Leroy Sane went over in the area (a dive according to Sean Dyche), everybody on the pitch, except David Silva stopped waiting for a decision that didn't come.

Silva then played the ball back to Bernardo Silva who tucked home, with Burnley only themselves to blame for not playing to the referee's whistle.

But replays later revealed that before Silva got to the ball, it had actually gone over the line and should have been a goal kick to Burnley.

One word for this passage of play. Calamitous.

Aguero Miss

Over 1.8million FPL bosses made Sergio Aguero their captain this weekend and after 17 minutes he repaid them, with CIty's opener.

However, from then on the Argentine had a nightmare of a game as he missed chance after chance, including a contender for miss of the season, just four yards from Joe Hart's goal.

Lamela's Celebration

With Dele Alli still out injured, Erik Lamela was given a rare start for Spurs when they travelled to the London Stadium.

The Argentine who had scored four and assisted three in seven games previous, showed once again signs of his brilliance with a dominant display.

He thoroughly deserved his goal on the 44th minute in which he celebrated in front of the West Ham supporters by pointing at the name on his back.

Moussa Sissoko Did Something

With Christian Eriksen also on the sidelines with Dele Alli, Pochettino's midfield options are stretched, meaning Moussa Sissoko was also given a rare start.

The Frenchman hasn't had the best of times at Tottenham since his arrival in 2016, so you could forgive Spurs fans for being surprised at his performance on Saturday.

For the first time in his Spurs career, he looked composed on the ball and threatening to the opposition, his assist for Lamela's goal was brilliant too.

Yarmolenko Injury

Before Lamela opened the scoring at the London Stadium, there was bad news for West Ham as Andriy Yarmolenko was forced off with a nasty injury.  The Ukranian fell awkwardly and is suspected to have suffered an achilles injury.

It was a double blow for the Hammers as he was actually in a good goalscoring position just yards from a goal.

Wolves Lose It In A Minute

Watford travelled to Molineux searching for their first win since the first week of September and thanks to two goals in 58 first-half seconds they got it.

First of all Etienne Capoue struck from range in the 20th minute before Roberto Pereyra doubled their lead just 58 seconds later!

Watford back to winning ways as they end Wolves' six game unbeaten run.

Crystal Palace Just Can't Score

Crystal Palace's poor record in front of goal continued on Sunday as Luka Milivojević, who was so consistent from the spot last season missed at Goodison Park.

The Eagles have scored just five goals in nine Premier League games this season, even Newcastle who have just two points so far, have scored more.

Pickford Penalty Heroics

To be fair to Milivojević, it was a decent save from Jordon Pickford who despite diving to his left, guessed that the Palace midfielder might go down the middle, so left his feet out to kick the ball away from danger.

What followed was what is becoming a trademark celebration from the England goalkeeper.

In a post-match interview, Pickford revealed that he had actually forgotten to do any research.

Super Subday

Rather than Super Sunday, it looked like it would be Stalemate Sunday as Everton hosted Crystal Palace, until Marco Silva made three substitutions that changed the game.

Firstly Ademola Lookman and Dominic Calvert-Lewin combined for Everton's late opener in the 87th minute, before third sub Cenk Tosun scored on the counter-attack two minutes later.

A fine example of how to use your substitutes available to you from Marco Silva.

Roy Hodgson on the other hand, decided to ignore his bench until after the second goal, bringing on Connor Wickham.

Newcastle's Worst Ever Start

After losing at home to Brighton on Saturday, Newcastle have officially made the sixth worst start to a Premier League season by any team since it's inception in 1992.

Another Alisson Clean Sheet

From scoring goals to keeping them out, Liverpool's Alisson achieved his sixth clean sheet in his first Premier League season after just nine games on Saturday, an achievement only bettered by Petr Cech.

With only three goals conceded this season, he is already starting to show why Liverpool paid £66 million for him.

Klopp To The Rescue

Jurgen Klopp and David Wagner's friendship is no secret, the two have known each other for over 25 years.

So when Wagner was being quesioned about Huddersfield's poor start to the season, Klopp jumped to the rescue of his friend, pointing out that the Terriers have had a difficult set of fixtures to start the season.

Cardiff Won!

Neil Warnock's Cardiff finally got their first win of the season on Saturday with a 4-2 victory over Fulham.

The Cardiff boss revealed that at half-time he told his players that their season started then:

"We said our season starts today, at half-time, when it was 2-2, we'd had a couple of blows and we said: 'This is it. This is our season, 45 minutes now."

Ryan Sessegnon Scored

His team may have lost at the weekend, but there was reason to celebrate for Ryan Sessegnon after he scored his first Premier League goal in his career.

At 18 years and 154 days, Sessegnon is the first player after the millennium to score a Premier League goal.

Aubameyang Arsenal Royalty

He may have only played 29 minutes, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang won the game on Monday night, with two quickfire goals to set-up a 3-1 win for Arsenal.

His fifteenth and sixteenth goals in just his 22nd appearance is an incredible record.

For context it took Thierry Henry 30 games to reach 15 Arsenal goals.

Ozil Highest Scoring German

Aubameyang wasn't the only Arsenal player breaking records on Monday night.

Mesut Ozil's opener was his 30th Premier League goal, taking him past Jurgen Klinsmann as the highest scoring German international in the league's history.

Jamie Vardy Ill

It was a difficult night for Jamie Vardy on Monday as he fired a blank.

At 1-1, Leicester thought they should have had a penalty after Rob Holding handballed in the area, but referee Chris Kavanagh didn't see it.

In the closing minutes of the game, Vardy ran down the tunnel without any warning and with no substitutes, Leicester finished the game with ten men.

When asked about Vardy' disappearance, Foxes boss Claude Puel said:

"Jamie was ill and he could not come back in the game and we finished with 10 men, I think he felt this in the second half, he couldn't digest the penalty decision."

Poor Jamie.
