As England and France line up ahead of tonight’s friendly in Paris, Harry Kane will undoubtedly have a warm embrace in the tunnel for his rival captain and Tottenham teammate, Hugo Lloris. The French keeper has been dubbed an ‘inspiration’ by the Spurs hitman and the ideal role model for him as he takes on the role of leading the Three Lions going forward.

Kane took the armband against Scotland at the weekend and led by example by firing a last gasp equaliser to salvage a point and whilst he has been complimentary about his Tottenham skipper; Lloris, believes that Gareth Southgate is wise to choose the golden boot winner as England’s new skipper:

"I can only talk positively about Harry. He's a great leader with Tottenham, he's a great man and he's a great player," Lloris said to L’Equipe.

"When he's on the pitch, he's always positive, he is working hard for the team and he will do it in the same way with England national team.”

Whilst Kane played the role as hero at the weekend and is favourite to score in the France v England betting odds, Lloris was very much the villain and the match at the Stade de France really couldn’t come soon enough for the keeper - as he looks to make amends for the injury time howler that cost them a vital point against Sweden at the weekend. It was a horror moment in an otherwise flawless performance; however, the French skipper will be under no illusions that his vice captain at club level will be hoping to heap more misery on his teammate and improve his otherwise poor strike-rate for his country.
