The Premier League has witnessed so many world class goalscorers in its time. This season there will be several superstars vying for the 2019/20 Golden Boot, as the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah and Sergio Aguero battle it out for the crown.

But who is the most clinical goalscorer ever in the Premier League, in terms of minute per goal?

The leaderboard of most clinical scorers in the history of England’s top-flight is comprised of players whose knack for not only finding the back of the net, but doing so frequently, made them international superstars.

Yet for all the superstars on the list, you might be surprised to find out where some of the game’s most prolific scorers, such as all-time leading goal scorer Alan Shearer with his 260 career goals, ultimately find themselves.

Here's how the top-25 most clinical goal scorers in Premier League history stack up, correct as of the last round of fixtures on August 31, 2019...

25. Anthony Yeboah - 162 minutes per goal

Leeds fans will certianly remember the name Yeboah, and he just squeezes in the top 25 of the most prolific goalscorers in the Premier League.

The former Ghana striker averaged a goal every 162 minutes of league action, scoring 24 goals in 47 appearances.

24. Branko Strupar, 161 minutes per goal

Strupar may be a vacant figure in your memory of the most prolific strikers the Premier League has witnessed, but with a goal every 161 minutes, he ranks in the top 25.

The former Derby County striker scored 15 goals in 36 Premier League appearances and is deserved of his place in the rankings.

23. Divock Origi, 161 minutes per goal

The Belgium forward may not start under Jurgen Klopp, but he still remains one of the most clinical strikers in the top-tier of English football.

Origi has made 65 appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool, scoring 16 goals in the process.

22. Loic Remy, 160 minutes per goal

Remy played for four different Premier League clubs but that did not stop his goalscoring antics, netting everywhere he went.

The France striker scored 28 goals in the top-tier of English football, netting every 160 minutes.

21. Demba Ba, 160 minutes per goal

The Senegalese striker picked up his 43 Premier League goals for West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea in just five seasons spent in England, finding the back of the net once every 160 minutes.

20. Ian Wright, 157 minutes per goal

While a vast majority of Ian Wright's 113 Premier League goals came for Arsenal, the former England international closed out his career in 1998-99 with nine goals in 22 appearances with West Ham United.

Arsenal's second-leading Premier League scorer of all time finished his career with 157 minutes per goal.

19. Michael Owen, 153 minutes per goal

The 2001 Ballon d'Or winner tallied 150 career goals in the Premier League in 15 seasons playing for Liverpool, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Stoke City.

When his storied career came to an end, Owen had scored once every 153 minutes.

18. Ole Gunnar Solskjær, 151 minutes per goal

Manchester United's current interim manager was himself an accomplished scorer during his playing days and had amassed 92 Premier League goals when his career came to a close following the 2006-07 season.

The Norwegian striker scored once every 151 minutes over his 234 top-flight appearances for the Red Devils.

17. Ivan Klasnic - 150 minutes per goal

Remember Klasnic? He may not be notoriously known as one of the best strikers in Premier League record, but his strike rate speaks for itself.

The former Bolton Wanderers forward scored 20 goals for the club, netting every 150 minutes of league action.

16. Zlatan Ibrahimovic - 149 minutes per goal

Zlatan certainly comes with his controversy, but there is no denying his goalscoring nature.

The former Sweden international made his mark at Old Trafford, scoring 17 goals in 33 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils.

15. Chicharito, 147 minutes per goal

The Mexican goal scorer has established himself as a consistent Premier League goal scorer over two separate stints in England, scoring 53 combined goals for Manchester United and West Ham respectively.

Chicharito has scored at a pace of 147 minutes per goal over his Premier League career.

14. Alan Shearer, 147 minutes per goal

While no man has scored more in the Premier League than Shearer, there have been plenty more clinical than him.

The Englishman scored 260 goals for Blackburn and Newcastle over his 14 years in England's top flight, yet his 147 minutes per goal does not even break the top-10 on the all-time leaderboard.

13. Daniel Sturridge, 147 minutes per goal

The English striker has scored 77 Premier League  goals with Manchester City, Chelsea, Bolton and Liverpool over the course of his up and down Premier League journey, and stands among the league's most opportunistic active scorers, netting a goal every 145 minutes he's on the pitch.

12. Diego Costa, 145 minutes per goal

The Spaniard helped power Chelsea to two league titles and scored 52 goals in the process as one of England's most dangerous strikers.

By the time of his return to Atletico Madrid in 2017, Costa had scored once every 145 minutes in the league.

11. Edin Dzeko - 141 minutes per goal

Bosnia striker Dzeko appeared 130 times for Manchester City, netting 50 times in the process.

The 33-year-old still remains one of the most prolific goalscorers in Premier League history and was instrumental during their title-winning campaign under Manuel Pellegrini in 2013/14.

10. Hernan Crespo - 140 minutes per goal

Who could forget the clinical nature of the former Chelsea striker?

Crespo scored 20 times in English football, averaging a goal every 140 minutes of Premier League action.

9. Robin van Persie, 140 minutes per goal

The two-time Golden Boot winner and catalyst of Manchester United's 2012-13 league title run, Van Persie finished his Premier League career with 144 goals during time spent at Old Trafford and previously with Arsenal.

The striker from the Netherlands made a name for himself as one of the league's most clinical scorers, and there is no greater proof of that greatness than his rate of 140 minutes per goal.

8. Luis Suarez, 139 minutes per goal

The Uruguayan striker capped off his four-year stint in England with a dazzling 31-goal, Golden Boot-winning effort in 2013-14, which brought his Premier League scoring total with Liverpool to 69 before leaving for Barcelona in the summer of 2014.

Long gone now playing Spain, Suarez's 139 minutes per goal still leaves him ranked just sixth among the Premier League's most clinical goal scorers.

7. Ruud van Nistelrooy, 128 minutes per goal

In the year 2003 alone, Ruud van Nistelrooy won a league title, earned Golden Boot and Play of the Year honours, and most famously embarked on his record-setting, 10-match goal scoring streak that's only since been beaten by Jamie Vardy.

It was the most impressive year in the Netherlands-international's five year stint at Old Trafford, and he left Old Trafford in 2006 as one of the historic club's most accomplished strikers.

Van Nistelrooy scored 95 goals in 128 Premier League appearances for Manchester United, and left England having scored at a rate of 128 minutes per goal.

6. Gabriel Jesus, 122 minutes per goal

City's second-string centre-forward knows exactly where the back of the net is and has a bright future ahead of him.

Jesus scores a goal every 122 minutes of Premier League action and has the potential to be one of the best forwards in the division.

5. Thierry Henry, 121 minutes per goal

The engine that drove Arsenal's "Invincibles" to an unbeaten league title in 2003-04, the French attacker became a fixture within English football for the best part of decade, and left the Gunners in 2007 with 176 Premier League goals to his name.

4. Mohamed Salah, 119 minutes per goal

The Egyptian striker earned himself the Golden Boot two seasons ago with 32 goals in his return to the Premier League.

Salah's Premier League tally currently stands at to 59 and the 27-year old has shown no signs of stopping anytime soon.

Salah's meteoric rise rise in England has been fuelled heavily by his clinical record of 118 minutes per goal.

3. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 118 minutes per goal

Arsenal's prolific centre-forward has been a revelation since moving to north London and he has no intentions of slowing down.

Aubameyang current obtains a record of 119 minutes per goal - a staggering accomplishment.

2. Harry Kane, 117 minutes per goal

The England captain burst onto the scene with a 21-goal effort in 2014-15, earning him the PFA Young Player of the Year award, and hasn't slowed down since.

The 26-year old striker now boasts 127 Premier League goals and counting, and looks as strong a candidate as any to challenge Shearer's Premier League record.

As the lead man of Spurs' attack up front, Kane has scored at a rate of 117 minutes per goal over his career.

1. Sergio Agüero, 106 minutes per goal

Few strikers can boast better runs than the one Sergio Agüero has embarked upon over his first seven seasons in the Premier League. The Argentinian striker has raced to his running total of 161 Premier League at a rate of one every 107 minutes, while leading City to a trio of league titles.

Presently ranked as the No. 8 in the Premier League's all-time goal scoring charts, Agüero's legend status as one of the league's top strikers ever will only continue to grow.
