With Premier League players reporting for international duty this weekend, Fantasy Premier League managers across the nation will have to fill the void of having no gameweek this weekend.

With eight games gone, the October international break gives FPL managers the opportunity to assess their team's performances so far this season and maybe make some adjustments.

It is also at this point, fans, pundits and analysts start to look at the Premier League table seriously, especially considering they are almost a quarter of a way through the season.

In terms of FPL performance, players are scored on their goals, assists, clean sheets and are also awarded bonus points based on many aspects of their game.

Here are the top performers so far this season. They aren't the kind of players you would expect.

32. Harry Maguire - 37 points

At the start of the season all eyes were on Harry Maguire, after an incredible summer with Englan, the Leicester man was linked with a big money move to Manchester United.

He decided to stay at Leicester and has continued his impressive form in front of goal and has already scored twice this season.

His goal at Newcastle helped his team to three points, but saw him achieve 18 points for himself!

31. Neil Etheridge - 37 points

You may be surprised to see the Cardiff goalkeeper in our top performers, but despite conceding 17 goals so far this season, he has been the Bluebirds' best player.

His penalty save at home to Newcastle was a highlight and because he is bombarded with shots, he has plenty of opportunities to make saves and get bonus points.

30. Jonny - 38 points

Spanish wing-back Jonny who only costs £4.5 million, has made a brilliant start to life in the Premier League with Wolves.

In fact Wolves defensively have been impressive so far this season, the newly promoted club have only conceded six goals in eight games.

29. Joe Hart - 38 points

After being left out of this summer's England World Cup squad, Joe Hart admitted he needed to do a bit of soul searching.

He moved to Burnley and thanks injuries to Nick Pope and Tom Heaton, has cemented his place as their no.1 keeper.

The Clarets have always been a strong defensive unit, so you can always rely of clean sheet bonuses.

28. Will Boly - 39 points

As mentioned Wolves have made a brilliant start to the season.

Willy Boly is the second only member of their defence that is in our top performers' list.

27. Alisson - 39 points

The Brazilian arrived at Liverpool with a huge price tag and a lot of expectation on his shoulders.

After the first eight games, five clean sheets and 39 FPL points has seen his popularity increase in recent weeks.

26. Wayne Hennessey - 39 points

In comparison at £4.6 million Wayne Hennessey is one of the cheapest goalkeepers on the FPL market but is one of the best performers.

Crystal Palace may be struggling for goals, but his performances between the sticks have helped them to four clean sheets.

25. Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson - 39 points

Burnley's Gudmundsson is the league's leader for most assists with five.

The Icelandic midfielder is arguably his side's most important player and at £5.9 million, he's a great 'cheap' option.

24. Glenn Murray - 39 points

Murray has been receiving a lot of media attention in recent weeks because of his impressive start to the season.

Many are questioning what the Englishman has to do to get an international call-up, apparently scoring five goals in eight appearances isn't enough.

23. Lucas Moura - 40 points

With no transfers made this summer, Spurs fans were desperate to see if Lucas Moura would be 'like a new signing'.

The Brazilian certainly started the season brightly, with 15 point haul in gameweek three at Old Trafford.

22. Rui Patricio - 41 points

Rui Patricio was one of many Portuguese arrivals at Molineux this season, with many wondering how all the new players would gel.

The answer is, brilliantly, Patricio and his defence have kept four clean sheets in the last five games and sit 7th in the table.

21. Aymeric Laporte - 42 points

Laporte is the first of four players in the top 25 performing Premier League players so far this season.

The Frenchman has played every single minute of City's unbeaten start to the campaign.

20. Mo Salah - 42 points

After finishing last season as the the league's top goalscorer, the PFA player of the year and highest FPL scorer, you wouldn't expect Mo Salah to be 20th in our list.

With three goals to his name the Egyptian's form is nowhere near the level it was last year and he isn't getting the amount of bonus points he was last term. Surely it's only a matter of time he gets back to his breathtaking form.

19. James Maddison - 42 points

The Leicester City midfielder is enjoying his breakthrough season in the Premier League and thanks to the fact he is the team's set-piece taker, he makes it into the top 20.

Three goals and two assists is a decent return from your first eight games in the top flight.

18. Aleksandar Mitrović -  42 points

When Aleksandar Mitrovic plays well, Fulham play well, he is that important.

His two goal performance in Gameweek Three saw him score 16 points and you can expect many more big performances from the Serbian.

17. Gylfi Sigurdsson - 42 points

After a slow start to the season to the season, Everton have won their last two games in the Premier League, largely due to the performances by Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The Icelandic star has scored three goals in those games and even missed a penalty, so could have been further up this list.

16. Josh King - 42 points

The Bournemouth striker had an incredible Gameweek 8 at Watford, scoring two goals alongside three bonus points.

However, it will surprise you to know that the Norwegian is only the third highest scorer from Bournemouth.

15. Ederson - 43 points

The top 20 features four players from Man City, with the Brazilian goalkeeper in 15th.

Thanks to four successive clean sheets he finds himself on 43 points, but only two of those have been from bonus points. He is a victim of having too many high quality players on his team bagging those points.

14. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 43 points

Despite being dropped to the bench for the game at Fulham last weekend, Aubameyang ended up with 15 points, including all three bonus points in a 28 minute cameo.

13. Kyle Walker - 44 points

Walker scored his first goal since 2015 in Gameweek four and like his goalkeeper Ederson has been part of the City team that has kept four successive clean sheets.

The right-wing back is a great option for FPL managers because he gets so far forward when City attack.

12. Harry Kane - 45 points

Considering Harry Kane is supposed to have an 'August' hoodoo, you would probably expect the England striker to be outside the top 20 players in the league.

Five goals from the FPL's second most expensive player is a decent return, but a blank return against Cardiff at Wembley on Saturday left a lot of managers disappointed.

11. Kieran Trippier - 46 points

Trippier loves the number 11.

The England right-back has achieved the points tally on three occasions this season and is always good for bonus points when Spurs keep a clean sheet. His performance at Old Trafford, saw him receive a lot of attention from FPL bosses.

10. Sadio Mané - 48 points

Liverpool's frontman bagged 26 points in the first two games of the season, but has only added 22 more points in the other six matches.

You could argue, alongside Mo Salah the Senegalese is sturggling for form.

9. Ryan Fraser - 48 points

The Bournemouth winger started the season with a price tag of £5.5 million, but has grown in popularity thanks to an incredible run of form.

His two goals and assist in Gameweek Five against Leicester saw him score 18 points!

8. Alexandre Lacazette - 48 points

Like Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette was in devastating form against Fulham last gameweek.

Scoring his third and fourth goals of the season was enough to score him 12 points.

7. Matt Doherty - 49 points

Wolves have made a fantastic start to the season, their defensive performances especially have help them get some important points on the board.

Matt Doherty has not only helped keep clean sheets but has chipped in with assists and goals of his own.

6. Andrew Robertson - 49 points

Last season was a breakthrough season fro Scotland's Andrew Robertson at Liverpool and it seems he is continuing his good form in this campaign too.

Liverpool have shored up their defence this season and the left-back's owners are reaping the rewards.

5. Calum Wilson - 49 points

Wilson is the third and highest scoring Bournemouth player in our list with an impressive 49 points.

His 14 point haul in Gameweek 8 is enough to take him into the top 5 best performing players so far this season.

4. Raheem Sterling - 50 points

It's no real surprise to see a Man City player in the top four and with four goals and two assists to his name, Raheem Sterling sits on 50 points so far.

Considering Pep Guardiola loves to rotate his squad, the fact that Sterling has only missed one game this season is a sign that the England winger is becoming as important as this next man...

3. Sergio Aguero - 52 points

Aguero's 20 point haul in Gameweek eight is the highest single weekend score so far this season, so it is no surprise to see him amongst the top performers.

2. Marcos Alonso - 60 points

The Spaniard will probably have gone unnoticed by many FPL managers this season because of Maurizio Sarri's tactics. Unlike Conte, Sarri hasn't given his wing-backs the license to get into advanced positions as much.

However, with one goal, five assists and four team clean sheets, Alonso is the best performing defender so far this season.

Get him back in your squad!

1. Eden Hazard - 74 points

There may have been a number of surprises in our top 20 players list, but there are none when it comes to the top performer.

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard is in the form of his life at the moment, seven goals, three assists and 13 bonus points to his name, he is the best player in the league by some distance!
