In recent years, clubs have embraced Halloween almost as much as an official holiday as Christmas is, with many of them selling related products in their shops but also creating content with their players for their social media channels.

From Arsenal players going through a virtual reality haunted house to Kyle Walker scaring his ex-Spurs team mates, clubs and players alike are enjoying the spooky season.

Some players really take Halloween seriously and go out celebrating with their team mates and friends in fancy dress, with extravagant outfits that range from Batman to Zombies.

Neymar Jr even hosted his own Halloween party last year.

We take a look through the best and the worst fancy dress outfits worn by some of our favourite footballers, Lee Bowyer's from the 2000's is ridiculous.

Rio Ferdinand And Robin van Persie

Back when they were both Man United regulars, Rio Ferdinand and Robin van Persie attended a team mate's Halloween party in appropriate attire.

However, we do feel like they missed a trick with Ferdinand not being Batman and van Persie as....

John Terry The Incredible

For years at Stamford Bridge he was known as Captain Fantastic but it seems John Terry prefers to be Mr. Incredible.

What is incredible is this was on the same night of Frank Lampard's pimp outfit, what was the theme?

David Ospina

Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina celebrated Halloween with his family, with his wife Jessica Sterling posting this photo of them on Instagram.

Ospina fully embracing the Stormtrooper outfit with one of his children as a mini-Darth Vader!

Zinchenko Thriller

As mentioned a lot of Premier League clubs are fully embracing the Halloween season.

Man City got left wing-back Oleksandr Zinchenko to model for their Instagram account.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Juventus star man Cristiano Ronaldo and his young family also celebrated the holiday season at home.

This Instagram post received over 6 million likes within a couple of hours!

Ronaldo

Old but gold from the 'other' Ronaldo here during his time at Real Madrid, getting into the Spanish spirit!

Dressed as a matador, it was a different kind of bull he was concerned about that night.

Angel Di Maria

PSG star Angel Di Maria has gone all out by dressing up as an astronaut this year, which isn't scary but rather impressive still.

What is worrying though, did Kylian Mbappe go as himself?

Robert Lewandowski

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowksi celebrated by dressing up in a hazmat suit, alongside his wife dressed as Lara Croft.

Another striker hoping to use his fancy dress a disguise from the general public.

James Rodriguez

Not to be outdone by his team mate, James Rodriguez fully embraced his Jigsaw outfit and even posted a freaky video on his Instagram.

'Let the games begin!'

Mertens' Hamsik

Dries Mertens pushed his luck one year when he asked his wife to dress up as his team mate Marek Hamsik, while he became his other striking partner Lorenzo Insigne.

Fair play to Mrs. Mertens who not only agreed to it, but actually managed to pull it off!

Keisuke Honda

Japanese legend Keisuke Honda also took to Instagram to post his fancy dress effort in 2018.

The 32-year-old was dubbed 'The Japanese Thor' by his followers.

Frank Pimpard

Frank Lampard will be hoping to cause a scare of his own tonight as his Derby side visit his old club Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

Married to TV presenter Christine Bleakley, Lampard and his wife dressed up in 2007 and he became some sort of 18th century pimp!

Gerard Beakque

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique and his Shakira posted this snap as they prepared for a Halloween party in 2017.

As a footballer, fancy dress is a great way to disguise yourself amongst the general public, Pique's mask would definitely help him achieve that.

Barcelona Squad

Before his big beak shopping, in 2015, Pique and his Barcelona team mates were storming press conferences and spooking around their dressing room.

Pique was joined by Ivan Rakitic and Claudio Bravo amongst others as they crashed Luis Enrique's press conference, which was actually Getafe winger Victor Rodriguez's.

Young Messi The Sailor

Long before his Barcelona team mates were scaring the opposition, a very young Lionel Messi and his future wife Antonella  attended arguably the weirdest Halloween party.

A Sailor, a Native American and an Egyptian were in attendance, we will ask again, where was the theme?

Messi 2018

After breaking his arm in October, Messi has had a lot of time on his hands to prepare for this year's Halloween.

He posted on social media this photo of him and his son out trick or treating on Wednesday night.

Javier Manquillo

Back when Liverpool seemed to only buy Spanish wing-backs, Jose Enrique stitched up his team mate Javier Manquillo by buying him this ridiculous inflatable outfit.

It is believed that Manquillo lost a bet and was forced to wear it.

Luis Ghost Garcia

Another former Liverpool player from Spain that loves dressing up.

Champions League hero Luis Garcia was pictured as a ghost randomly reading one of his former side's matchday programmes.

Rambo Ramsey

Since the age of 10, Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey has had the nickname of Rambo, thanks to him being involved in an on the pitch scuffle in an under 10s match.

So it was no surprise in 2016 to see him join his Arsenal team mates at Halloween, dressed as Sylvester Stallone's infamous character.

Lee Bowyer

Although not in Halloween, Lee Bowyer's fancy dress outfit for West Ham's Christmas party in 2007 is so horrific, it deserves a place in our list.

Apparently the former midfielder was supposed to be award-winning jockey AP McCoy riding a horse!

Patrice Evra

Still not officially retired, Patrice Evra seems to spend more time on his social media game than on getting back to playing football regularly.

Confusing, but when he produces images like this, you can understand why he enjoys it so much, after all he does 'love this game'.

Neymar Joker

As mentioned Neymar Jr was all over social media last year for his Joker outfit from Suicide Squad that he wore to a Halloween bash in Paris.

The PSG star wasn't the only footballer out that night...

Dani Alves

Fellow Brazilian Dani Alves was also at the party in 2017, but we are not 100% sure what he is supposed to have been dressed as.

The closest thing we can come up with is Gandalf from Lord of the Rings, whatever he was meant to be it worked, we're spooked.

Bayern Munich Team Photo

As mentioned, James Rodriguez and Robert Lewandowski both dressed up for this year's Halloween.

Here they posed alongside team mates whilst at a party, the photo went viral online for all the wrong reasons because of right-back Rafinha's outfit choice.

The club tweeted the photo but after a backlash online, deleted it and apologised for the insensitive 'Arab Bomber' fancy dress by the Brazilian.
