Few would dispute Aaron Ramsey is a supremely talented midfielder. The problem throughout his Arsenal career, however, has been deciding which role actually suits him best.

He arrived as a tricky attacking midfielder, usually cutting in from the left, but has since served as a right midfielder, a No.10 and a central midfielder with very mixed results. That constant jostling around the pitch, not to mention his recurring injury problems, has inevitably held back the Welshman's development at times.

But Arsene Wenger's switch to a 3-4-3 has perhaps provided the answer to what is truly Ramsey's best position, with the 26-year-old acting as a box-to-box alongside the deeper-lying Granit Xhaka. The role has seen a revival in form from Ramsey in the latter stages of the season, climaxing with arguably a Man of the Match performance against Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Ramsey netted what proved to be the winner with a powerful header from an Olivier Giroud cross and that very much summed up his influence on the match, providing late runs into the box from deep to support Arsenal's forward cast.

And he could have hit the onion bag much earlier, when a header from a corner rebounded towards the former Cardiff City man - only for the ball to bounce off him and onto the outside of the post.

But threatening Thibaut Courtois' goal was by no means Ramsey's only important contribution. He also weighed in defensively with three tackles and two interceptions, whilst having a huge impact when Arsenal were in possession - missing just 7% of his passes.

Looking ahead to next season, it's clear whoever's in the Arsenal hot seat must find a system that allows Ramsey to continue operating as a dynamic box-to-box midfielder, charged with the task of providing goals from the engine room.
