Manchester City’s squad has become so strong over the last few years that Pep Guardiola will be left with a selection headache every weekend this season – starting with the coming one when his side travel to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal.
Riyad Mahrez, who Transfermarkt value at £45million, remains City’s only major acquisition of the summer and got his first taste of action against Chelsea last weekend in the Community Shield, although there were a few sloppy touches from the Algerian that will have disappointed his new gaffer.
Raheem Sterling, on the other hand, only returned to training earlier this week, so while starting the 23-year-old this weekend may seem like something of a fitness risk, this is no doubt an important game for City and he was integral to their successes last season with 18 goals in the top flight.
