Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League's Saturday evening kick-off desperate to pick up their first Premier League victory of 2017. The Reds have won only one game this calendar year, a stodgy FA Cup replay victory over lowly Plymouth of League Two.

They've been cut adrift of the title race and risk falling out of the top four if their results don't start picking up soon.

Spurs visit knowing a victory will close the gap on Chelsea, at least until Sunday when the Blues are next in league action. Mauricio Pochettino's side now look like the team most likely to put any sort of dent into Chelsea's title aspirations - although even they will find it tough, currently nine points behind the Blues.

It's all set to be an intriguing match-up and is undoubtedly the biggest tie of the weekend - which is why it's Football FanCast's Fixture in Focus. Here are FIVE must know stats ahead of kick-off...

Zero in five

Liverpool haven't won a single Premier League match in 2017, a streak of five without a win. Their last victory came on New Years Eve when they impressively saw off Manchester City at Anfield.

Shock defeats to Swansea and Hull have left Liverpool fans questioning whether Klopp is indeed the saviour they thought he was. They now have to wait yet another year to see if their team can be inspired to a genuine title bid.

That winless streak is now a weight on their backs and it could play its own part in the fixture against Spurs. If they are genuinely suffering a crisis in confidence then that's something that Pochettino's side can punish, especially in the form they are enjoying...

Mauricio Pochettino's side haven't been beaten in eleven matches now, and they've won nine of them. It's incredible form and something that will instil them with the swagger they need to take on Liverpool in their own backyard.

They've played some lovely football at times but they're grinding out wins too, showing they have a real determination to extend their unbeaten streak.

A draw away to Manchester City also showed they have the resilience and spirit to comeback from adversity, clawing their way back to draw from two goals down.

If they turn up in that sort of mood at Anfield, it could be tough to stop them.

The Liverpool nine

The pre-match stats aren't all bad news for Liverpool. The fact is, despite form, they're unbeaten against Spurs in nine matches in all competitions.

The last meeting between the two sides was in the EFL Cup when a Daniel Sturridge double gave them a 2-1 victory. Both starting elevens will be much stronger on Saturday but that won't stop Liverpool fans expecting a positive result against the Lilywhites.

The performance against Chelsea last Tuesday showed that despite a run of dire form, they still have what it takes to compete against the best sides in the country.

The unstoppable force vs. the immovable object

Tottenham have been attracting attention for their attacking brand of football this season but what you may not know is that they are also the most effective defensive unit in the entire Premier League.

They've conceded just sixteen goals in the twenty-four matches played so far this season, a lower amount than any other side.

That immovable object goes up against the unstoppable force of Liverpool's attack on Saturday. Conversely to Spurs, Liverpool have the best attacking record in the league; no-one has scored more than their fifty-two goals this term.

That sets up a very intriguing encounter at Anfield and one which could produce fireworks... or a stalemate.

Liverpool's Kane conundrum

Harry Kane is in some of the best form his entire career and he has scored an incredible seven goals in his last seven Spurs appearances, also contributing two assists. He's scoring from any and every position and looks capable of punishing Liverpool on Saturday.

It's a problem Klopp needs to solve if they're to get anything from the match. Take Kane out of the equation and they have a path to victory. Let him combine with his teammates and it'll likely be another match-day without a win for the Reds.
