Arsene Wenger is facing serious pressure to turn results around at Arsenal or risk alienating the Gunners support to an even greater degree than he already is.

There's no doubt he's a club legend but with some feeling like it's time for a fresh take on playing matters at the Emirates coupled with the Frenchman still having not signed a new deal with the club, speculation about his future is rampant.

Most recently, the heavy defeat to Bayern Munich cast a real shadow on the club and despite overcoming a potentially disastrous FA Cup tie against Sutton United, the performance left a lot to be desired.

The test at Anfield is a significant one, despite Liverpool not in the best of shape themselves, we saw against Tottenham Hotspur that they have the ability to kick the form book into touch and produce a smashing performance.

What can Wenger do to ensure a result?

Here are three tactical tweaks the Gunners boss can make to keep his competitive against the Reds...

Restrain Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal

Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal are often at their best rampaging down the touchline in support of Arsenal's more creative attacking players, however at Anfield they should be restricted to a much more defensive and narrower outlook. Liverpool's threat on the flanks is massive and all attention should be paid to the likes of Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho or Arsenal risk behind overwhelmed and exposed in the wide key areas.

That's particularly true on the counter-attack and should Bellerin and Monreal commit forward too often, Jurgen Klopp's side can most definitely exploit the space.

While restraining them to this more defensive role may jeopardise their attack threat, they should still have the quality in midfield and in the final third to retain possession effectively and remain competitive at the back.

Another poor defeat at Anfield could be disastrous for Arsene Wenger.

Bring Giroud back into the fold

Olivier Giroud came back into the Arsenal side in January and without really doing too much wrong, soon found himself out of Wenger's first choice XI again. He hasn't started a match since being hooked at half-time during the 2-1 defeat to Watford, relegated to bit part appearances from the bench again.

In his run of seven starts he scored five and assisted two more, the effective central focus of an Arsenal attack that utilised Alexis Sanchez on the left hand side.

Having that more physical presence through the middle may help against Liverpool and having Sanchez out on the flank may not be such a bad thing for this one given Liverpool's propensity to utilise a high line and advanced full-backs.

It could be the perfect blend that gives the Gunners an out ball and also the chance to get at the Reds down the flanks.

Unleash Walcott on the right

When Theo Walcott scored his hat-trick in the FA Cup against Southampton, it appeared to be the start of an extended period of form but that form nosedived thereafter and like Giroud soon found himself back on the bench for the Bayern Munich clash.

He came back into the side for the Sutton United match-up and got on the scoresheet on the night which, while not particularly impressive given the opponent, was an important contribution to keep their hopes of silverware alive this season.

Against James Milner he should enjoy himself. Milner, while performing well on occasion this season isn't a natural full-back and has at times shown a defensive naivety against wingers that aren't afraid to run at him and take him on.

Is that battle on the right hand side of Arsenal's flank the key to getting a famous victory at Anfield?
