FIFA president Sepp Blatter stepped down on Tuesday amid a corruption scandal that consumed the organisation and implicated nine current and former executives.
Blatter’s shock announcement came just four days after his re-election following calls for his resignation from the UEFA and English FA chairman Greg Dyke, among others.
Dyke called the move “a brilliant day for the game.”
Reactions across the globe mirrored Dyke’s sentiment, but perhaps a bit more, well… pointedly. Football FanCast brings you a collection of tweets responding to the fall of one of football’s biggest figures…
Blatter resigning in the sports world is equivalent to Nixon resigning in the political world.
