The inevitable happened last weekend at Wembley as Premier League champions Chelsea completed the double with a 1-0 FA Cup final victory over relegated Portsmouth. The match marked the end of the top flight domestic season in England and now we have the 2010 World Cup to look forward to. One man who might not be looking forward to the tournament quite so much now is Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack, whose ankle injury has ruled him out of Joachim Loew’s World Cup squad. In a strange twist of fate it was Kevin-Prince Boateng who crocked Ballack, with the midfielder set to line up for Ghana in South Africa and face Germany in Group D. Both players now have uncertain futures given Ballack’s age and Boateng’s likely departure from Pompey, but should the conspiracy theorists be working overtime given last Saturday’s turn of events?
