In a week when Sir Alex expressed a reason for his unrivalled success has been his ability to keep on top and in control of his players, I suppose it was inevitable that one of them would break ranks, show complete petulance and possibly has played his last game for Manchester United. Quite what Anderson felt was being achieved by storming off and then not showing up for training is anybody’s guess, but you are brave man to defy Fergie who I’m sure hasn’t taken to it kindly.

I don’t understand Anderson and for a player who himself only a few weeks ago showed a refreshing amount of honesty with regards to his abilities and how he perhaps wasn’t deserving of wearing the United shirt, this hardly seemed the kind of reaction that you’d expect. Anderson was piss poor against City, like he has on many big games in the past and it just further highlights the debate as to whether he can be that midfield general, or that attacking threat that could end up replacing Scholes. He hasn’t really convinced us either way so maybe Anderson was right after all.

I am sure there are an element of United fans that would hate to see Anderson leave and why I have always been hopeful that the Brazilian will step up and be the player that we all deep down believe he can be, the minute you storm away from the club and then fail to turn up for training in some sort of protest, there is only one way you should go and that is out of the club. No one is bigger than United and Anderson would be foolish to think otherwise.

There has been a lot of talk yesterday that Anderson could be on his way to Lyon and it has been mooted that perhaps a swap deal with the French No.1 Hugo Lloris is maybe on the cards. In my view the prospect of such a deal is a no brainer as the need for a top quality goalkeeper far outweighs the need for Anderson in midfielder so Sir Alex therefore should bite the hand off Lyon if they are prepared to do business. While we have been linked with Akinfeev, Neuer; Lloris is arguably one of the best around and a more than worthy successor for Edwin van der Sar.

Would a swap deal be welcomed at Old Trafford, or should Sir Alex look to give Anderson one last chance?
