Manchester United have received a huge boost in their chase for Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos after the defender reportedly told the club he wants to leave, according to the Express.
With Real stalling contract talks with Ramos, United have asked the La Liga giants to include the highly-rated centre-back as part of the deal for goalkeeper David de Gea.
And even with Ramos’ £145million buy-out clause, the Red Devils are adamant that they will not let De Gea depart without Ramos coming in the other direction.
But United’s push to sign the 29-year-old could come to fruition, as Ramos is currently unsettled at the Santiago Bernabeu after he was offered a contract well below his expectations.
Chelsea will however provide Man United with some competition to sign the former Sevilla ace this summer, with the Premier League champions keen on Ramos to become John Terry’s long-term replacement in defence.
Ramos played 42 games in all competitions last season, scoring seven goals.
