Olivier Giroud has signed a new deal with Arsenal that will keep him at the club until 2018, according to reports from the Mirror.
The Gunners have been searching actively in the transfer market for another striker, but at least manager Arsene Wenger can be assured of at least one option up front after Giroud extended his stay at the Emirates.
The France international has been the only out-and-out centre forward the past few campaigns, and Wenger is hoping to finalize a deal for at least one more to give Giroud some friendly competition.
Arsenal director Lord Harris has told Wenger that he will have £200million to spend in the transfer market, which has seen the club linked with the likes of Real Madrid star Karim Benzema and Borussia Dortmund speedster Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
However, the return of Theo Walcott from a long-term injury has given Wenger a massive boost, with the England winger also capable of leading the line for the Gunners.
Giroud, 28, made 36 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 19 goals.
