Arsenal target Karim Benzema has revealed his frustration at continuously being substituted off by Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez, according to reports from Goal.
However, out of the six league games he’s featured so far this season, the 27-year-old has been taken off five times before the final whistle, even though he is currently Real’s top scorer with six goals.
And Benzema is unsure why that is so, before stating that he will try to work even harder so his game-time is not as limited later on in the campaign.
“Substitutions are what the coach decides, I’m just there to help my team-mates,” Benzema told Spanish publication AS.
“It’s true I’m fed up of being taken off. I’m calm and will continue to work so I’m not always subtituted. He took me off to get a result, for defensive reasons.
“It’s true that the electronic board always shows the No.9. Ask Benitez why that is.”
The Gunners will therefore be alerted by this revelation, as the club have been tracking Benzema all summer as they look for a new world class striker that can propel them to the title.
Last season, the former Lyon star made 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring 22 goals.
