Arsenal are closing in on Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani after the Uruguayan has reportedly asked to move to the Premier League, Metro reports.
Cavani has been heavily linked with a move away from the Parc de Princes during the summer transfer window after a year playing second-fiddle to PSG main man Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
However a transfer did not materialize, which has forced Cavani to push for a switch this winter.
The Gunners are seen as the most likely destination for the 27-year-old, with manager Arsene Wenger still keen to add a world class striker to his squad despite the deadline day arrival of Danny Welbeck.
Liverpool and Chelsea were also interested in signing Cavani, but with the Reds set to bring Divock Origi back from his loan spell at Lille and Diego Costa firing on all cylinders for Jose Mourinho’s men, Arsenal have a clear path to lure Cavani to the Emirates.
It has been suggested that PSG will be asking for around £55million for the ex-Napoli hitman, who scored 25 goals in 43 appearances last season.
