26-goal Chelsea target still interested in Liverpool move

Liverpool looks to have been alerted after Alex Teixeira told his close friend Josef de Souza that he was still interested in a switch to Anfield, Express reports.

The 26-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League during the summer, but instead accepted a transfer to Chinese Super League outfits Jiangsu Suning last month.

Chelsea were also close to completing a deal for the forward before the Reds looked to have overtaken their opponents in the race for his services.

However, De Zouza admitted that he spoke with Teixeira and found out that he is still keen to play for Liverpool despite already confirming his transfer to China.

“I spoke to Alex, and really, he said that things were well advanced [To go to Liverpool],” he said.

“And Alex, I can say that he was totally willing to go to the Premier League. And he still keeps that dream, from what he told me, in his heart.

“Of course he wanted to play for Liverpool, play in the Premier League. But it happened, football has these things.”

Manager Jurgen Klopp was unwilling to meet his £38million valuation and instead tabled an offer of £25million in hopes of opening negotiations.

Teixeira was on sensational form for his now former side, Shakhtar Donetsk, ahead of his move to Asia, scoring a total of 26 goals from 26 appearances in all competitions.
