Everton may lose Romelu Lukaku in the summer, despite the former Chelsea striker only joining them ahead of the current campaign, Skysports reports.
The 21-year-old only completed a move to Goodison Park for a fee of £28million last July, but is now said to be considering his options with the Toffees struggling to keep up with the top four.
Roberto Martinez’s side are currently 12th in the Premier League, and unless any improvements are made, they may not be able to qualify for Europe unless they are crowned Europa League champions.
Ahead of his permanent switch to Everton, Lukaku enjoyed a very successful loan spell at Goodison Park, scoring 15 goals in 29 league starts.
However, with 25 games played this season, the Belgium international is yet to replicate his previous form, netting only 7 goals in 22 league appearances so far.
Upon his return to Stamford Bridge with his new club, he admitted that he was happy with the reception he received from the fans and is currently looking forward to playing for a big team once again despite losing the match 1-0.
“It was brilliant to play at Chelsea and I had a good reception,” he said.
“I don’t have a secret ambition to rejoin — there are other clubs in the world. I just want to grow as a player and eventually arrive at a top club again.”
