Chelsea have been informed by Shakhtar Donetsk that star attacking midfielder Alex Teixeira’s price could rise by £7million if they don’t sign him this January, according to reports from the Mirror.
Teixeira has been heavily linked with a move away from the Ukranian top flight in recent weeks, with the Blues and Juventus keen on his services.
However, the Brazilian came out to reveal that he has held talks with the Premier League champions, and is looking to make a move to the English top flight.
Amid the speculation, Shakhtar manager Mircea Lucescu has come out to warn Chelsea that if they want to sign the 25-year-old, they should do it next month as his current value of £29million could rise to £36.3million by the end of the season.
He said: “Alex is now worth more than €40m (£29m).
“I think at the end of the season, were he to continue his performance, his value is €50m (£36.3m).”
The Blues are struggling in the current campaign just one point off the relegation zone, and could do with an impetus into their lacklustre attack.
Teixeira has scored an incredible 26 goals in 26 games so far this season.
