AC Milan join Manchester United in race to sign ‘New Mesut Ozil’

AC Milan have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Calhanoglu, according to reports from talkSPORT.

Calhanoglu was heavily linked with a move away from the BayArena during the summer, with the Red Devils as well as Arsenal keen on the Turkey international dubbed the ‘New Mesut Ozil.’

However, reports in Italy have revealed that Serie A giants Milan are also interested in Calhanoglu, with the club putting the 21-year-old as their number one transfer priority following a meeting between manager Sinisa Mihajlovic and vice president Adriano Galliani.

The Rossoneri have had a rather indifferent start to their season, winning three and losing three games and sit 10th on the table.

And they are looking to bring in a number 10 or ‘trequartista’ to play behind their strikers in a 4-3-1-2 setup, with Calhanoglu the perfect candidate.

The 21-year-old joined Leverkusen from Hamburg last summer, making 47 appearances in all competitions and scoring 13 goals.
