Arsenal are close to announcing the signing of Basle star Mohamed Elneny after the Egyptian passed a medical with the English club, The Daily Mail report.
The Gunners are currently top of the Premier League and looking to win their first title since 2004, with potential January additions to bolster Arsene Wenger’s contingent.
Elneny has been very impressive since moving to the Swiss club and looks set to complete a £5 million switch to the Emirates Stadium in the near future.
The report suggests that the 23-year-old has agreed terms with the North London team and passed a medical, with Arsenal now only waiting for international clearance to conclude the transfer.
The Gunners have had real injury woes in the centre of midfield, with Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla all on the treatment table currently.
Wenger has been reluctant to add new faces to his squad mid-season in previous years, but recently admitted that Arsenal would be busy in the market over the next month.
