The agent of Catania's Uruguayan forward Jorge Martinez has corrected quotes attributed to him suggesting that Manchester City had opened talks over a summer move for his client.
Martinez, 26, moved to Italy in the summer of 2007 and has since scored 22 goals in 79 Serie A appearances for the Sicilians, sparking talk of interest from several clubs, both in Italy and abroad.
However Daniel Delgado has denied that negotiations have already begun with the Citizens, telling itasportpress:"There are no negotiations underway.
"My words were misinterpreted, because I simply said that I had come to know of interest from Man City by reading the papers.
"But I confirm I have not started negotiations, I've never talked to the directors of the English club.
"Perhaps it could happen in the future, but there is nothing concrete at the moment regarding Martinez."
Delgado had earlier been quoted as saying:"At the moment we are in negotiations with Manchester City and there is another English side that would like to begin talks for Jorge.
"He would love to stay in Italy with a big club, but at the moment that doesn't seem likely. England is in pole position."
