Manchester City have been alerted after Amadou Diawara’s agent Robert Visan revealed that Chelsea are stepping up their chase for his client, Express reports.
The 18-year-old Bologna star has been the subject of multiple scouting missions from the Blues as they continue monitoring his situation in the Serie A.
It is now believed that manager Jose Mourinho is looking at alternative reinforcements given his side’s huge drop in form as he plots a January move for the midfielder.
The Blues currently see themselves 15th on the Premier League table after picking up seven losses from their first 13 matches of the competition this season.
Visan admitted that the current English champions have shown heavy interest in the services of his client, but played down speculation of a sure move given links with other top clubs.
“There is a strong interest of Chelsea,” he said.
“I work with Pini Zahavi, who everyone knows, but that does not mean that will he will go to Chelsea.
“Also the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham and Juventus follow him [but] with them I never speak of offers, only football.
“But now, I repeat, he is indebted to Bologna.”
Chelsea impressed in midweek after overcoming Maccabi Tel Aviv 4-0 in the Champions League as they prepare to face fifth place Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday.
