Manchester United and Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their chase for Mattia Perin after his agent Matteo Moggi admitted that his client won’t leave Genoa, Daily Star reports.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford amid speculation that Real Madrid were preparing to make another move for current number one David de Gea.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is also believed to be in the market for a new goalkeeper following heavy criticism from the fans over the performances of Simon Mignolet.
However, Moggi revealed that he has heard about the transfer rumours regarding his client, but has confirmed that the Italy international is going nowhere at the moment despite hinting about a possible future switch.
“I’ve been hearing these rumours for the last four years,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“Unless the wheel of international goalkeepers starts spinning, nobody is going to move.
“We’re ready for the change, but we’re peaceful about it.
“We won’t leave just for the sake of leaving, as he’s already playing in a great team.”
Perin has already featured 23 times in all competitions for his side his term, so far managing to keep six clean sheets in the process.
