Christian Eriksen will ask his club Ajax to facilitate a move to Manchester United, The Daily Mail reports.
The Denmark international is one of the brightest young prospects in the European game, and has been linked with a move away from the Eredivisie champions.
It is believed that Russian side Zenit St Petersburg have lodged a bid in the £20 million region for the Scandinavian playmaker, with talks between the eastern Europeans and Ajax ongoing.
However, Eriksen is thought to prefer a move to Old Trafford, and will ask Frank de Boer’s men whether the Red Devils are interested before deciding his future.
Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be in the market for a new central midfield creative player as a long-term replacement for Paul Scholes, with Eriksen being touted as one of the options.
