Sunderland defender Russell Anderson is not about to sign for Hibernian, according to the Scottish side's manager John Hughes.
The 31-year-old former Aberdeen stalwart has endured a dismal time on Wearside, starting just one game for the club following his transfer to the Stadium of Light in the summer of 2007.
However, Hughes said of the speculation linking Anderson with a January transfer to Easter Road:"I'd like to think there'll be something happening in the window but it certainly won't be Russell Anderson.
"There are specific targets but it's more about what positions we need. I want a squad where there's competition for places, two for each position."
Meanwhile, Black Cats boss Steve Bruce has been linked with a move for Coventry City goalkeeper Keiren Westwood.
The 25-year-old former Carlisle United shot-stopper could provide competition to Craig Gordon, who has endured a succession of injuries in the last 18 months, and Marton Fulop.
