Newcastle United are ready to offer Andros Townsend a chance of first-team football and will bid £8 million for the winger in January, according to The Daily Mail.
The England international has been on the fringes of things at Whtie Hart Lane this season and was disciplined recently for a blow-up with one of the club’s training staff.
With Erik Lamela and Son Heung-min ahead of the former QPR loanee in the pecking order, Townsend’s place at Euro 2016 is starting to look increasingly under threat.
However, the flying wideman could well be offered a reprieve in January, with Newcastle ready to take a chance on the attacker.
Steve McClaren’s men are embroiled in a relegation battle currently and are expected to look to the transfer market in the new year to give their chances of survival a boost.
Newcastle and Tottenham clash today at White Hart Lane, but Townsend is expected to have to watch on from the sidelines again.
