Brendan Rodgers has left Andy Carroll out of his matchday squad to face FC Gomel in the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday, Mirror Football report.
Liverpool are set to face the Swiss minnows, with the England international expected to feature, but he has now been omitted, with an injury claimed as the supposed reason.
However, the newspaper claim that Rodgers is keen not to play Carroll in the European fixture as this could cup-tie the striker for his potential new employer.
West Ham and Newcastle are fighting it out for Carroll’s signature this summer, as Rodgers has bought Italian forward Fabio Borini as the frontman’s replacement.
