Liverpool star Daniel Sturridge has been ruled out of the clash against Manchester United next weekend, according to reports from the Mirror.
The 26-year-old was hoping to make his comeback from injury against their league rivals, but can only return to first team training at the end of the week.
This will not give him enough time to regain his full fitness having not featured for the Reds since April following a hip injury.
His inability to make it into the match day squad will be seen as a huge blow to manager Brendan Rodgers who will also be without star man Philippe Coutinho.
The Brazilian attacker is currently suspended after being sent off with two yellow card offences in his team’s 3-0 home loss to West Ham United.
Sturridge is now being tipped to make his long awaited return to the first team before October, giving him about a month to get back to full fitness.
