Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi will prefer a move to Arsenal over the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City, according to reports from the Express.
Messi is once in a while heavily linked with a move away from the Nou Camp, but the Argentina international usually reiterates his desire to finish his career with the European giants.
However, Messi’s recent struggles with Spain’s tax authorities have seen considering a move to the Premier League, but the four-time Ballon D’o winner is asking for a massive £18million a year excluding tax.
These demands, which would make Messi earn a staggering £600,000-a-week, seems to be a huge stretch for any English club, given that the 28-year-old is earning £14million each year in the Spanish top flight.
Messi’s father (Jorge Messi) has been investigated for an alleged £3million tax fraud, with prosecutors claiming that Jorge has been avoiding tax by using offshore accounts in Belize and Uruguay.
But both the attacking midfielder and his father have denied these accusations, and Messi’s frustration with the incident could see him look for a move out of Spain.
Messi has been recovering from a knee injury he picked up late in September, but has already scored six goals in 10 games.
