Arsenal have been alerted by speculation that Daniele Rugani is ready to make a transfer request in order to push his exit, according to Calciomercato, as reported by the Metro.
The 21-year-old only joined from Empoli during the summer, but has struggled immensely in his efforts to hold down a regular role in the squad.
He has been unable to overtake Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, and Andrea Barzagli to a centre-back role this season, a factor that looks to have fuelled his desire to leave.
The Gunners are already said to have been monitoring his situation as they could now step up their chase for his services during the upcoming January window.
Manager Arsene Wenger is quite limited with his centre-back selections as Per Mertesacker, Laurent Kosciely, and Gabriel Paulista are his only three senior defenders.
In addition to that, the injury crisis that looks to always affect the squad means Wenger will surely want adequate cover for his back line.
Rugani is now being eyed as a potential candidate for the role and is expected to set the club back about £14.1million should they table an offer for his services.
