Arsenal have been alerted in their chase for Julian Draxler after confirmation from Schalke 04 that Juventus have stepped up their pursuit of the player, Express reports.
The 21-year-old has been a long-term target for manager Arsene Wenger over the past few seasons and was tipped to make a formal move this summer.
It is believed that the winger is valued at about £21million, but the Serie A winners only managed to table an offer worth about £14million.
Their refusal to meet the full valuation has alerted Wenger in his efforts to lure the Germany international to the Emirates ahead of the new campaign.
The Bundesliga club’s director of sport Horst Heldt revealed that Juventus have already made a move by requesting to meet Draxler’s agent to help push the potential transfer forward.
“Juventus sent us a written request asking to be authorised to speak with Draxler’s agent,” he said.
He featured 19 times for his side in all competitions the previous term, scoring two goals and providing a further two assists.
