A host of English Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, are preparing to battle it out with Barcelona to sign Gonzalo Higuain ever since he hinted at a possible move away from Napoli, Express reports.
The former Real Madrid front man became unsettled in the Serie A after Luis Enrique revealed that he wanted to pair Higuian alongside Lionel Messi for the Catalan side.
However Arsene Wenger, who is currently in search of a new striker, is believed to be willing to match any offers made by Enrique’s side.
Even though Jose Mourinho looks quite set to introduce Atletico Madrid superstar Diego Costa into his next season line up, the Portuguese boss is still searching for another lethal attacker.
Manchester United is also another team that will want the forward man amongst their ranks but they, along with the other Premier League duo, can tell that Higuain prefers to play in the La Liga rather than anywhere else.
The Argentinian international recently played up his chances of playing alongside Messi and expressed his pleasure of being tracked by Barcelona.
“Of course. I enjoy playing alongside him for the national team.
“Obviously it would be an enormous pleasure, but for now I’m focused on the World Cup.
“I’m flattered by the interest from Barca. Any player would be.”
