Arsenal and Chelsea have been boosted in their attempts to sign AS Roma forward Mattia Destro, who hinted at a possible January exit, Express reports.
The Italian has been heavily linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico during the summer, but the Premier League duo were unable to persuade Destro to leave Rome.
Despite already scoring four goals in the league, the 23-year-old has been used infrequently by Roma manager Rudi Garcia, who prefers to deploy the duo of captain Francesco Totti and former Arsenal ace Gervinho in attack.
This has therefore forced Destro to consider his options, with Chelsea and Arsenal both keen on signing a striker with their current injury issues.
Destro said: “I can only do my talking on the pitch. Some people speak with their voice, I speak on the field.
“I try to score goals when I have the opportunity. [Should I be given] more opportunities by the coach? That’s up to the coach.
“I think with my head, I make decisions with my head. So we’ll see.”
Last season Destro scored 13 goals in only 15 league starts for the Serie A club.
