Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool have been dealt a major blow to their summer transfer window plans after reported target Nabil Fekir said he wants to remain in France with current club Lyon.
The 21-year-old has been one of Lyon’s main stars in a campaign that sees them currently just three points off Paris Saint-Germain in top spot.
Fekir’s verstality no doubt appeals to both Rodgers and Wenger, with the rising star capable of playing as a striker or an attacking midfielder. Lyon have used the Frenchman mainly as a striker – 18 appearances bringing about eight goals and four assists – although Fekir has played 11 times just behind the striker and has managed to bag four goals and five assists.
Liverpool are still looking to replace Luis Suarez’s goals – Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli haven’t managed to hit double figures in all competitions between them – plus overcome the injury problems for Daniel Sturridge whilst Arsene Wenger is looking to ease the burden on Olivier Giroud. However, it appears that both clubs may have to look elsewhere.
