Manchester City gaffer Manuel Pellegrini is confident that James Milner will sign a new deal with the Premier League champions.
The England international, who joined in a £26million deal from Aston Villa back in 2010, has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Liverpool as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of this campaign.
It was believed that Milner, who has started only ten of Manchester City’s Premier League games this season so far, wanted guarantees that he will receive further playing time before committing his future to the Citizens.
Pellegrini has revealed:
“I hope that James will stay here and he will sign his contract in the next few days,”
The former Leeds United ace has been used as a striker in recent weeks following injuries to Stevan Jovetic, Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero. However, it is believed that Brendan Rodgers views the England international as a potential replacement for departing captain Steven Gerrard, whilst Arsene Wenger continues his search for that defensive-midfield powerhouse.
