Arsenal and Liverpool target valued at £40million

It will cost Arsenal and Liverpool £40million should they wish to bid for reported target Goncalo Guedes, that is according to reports in the Daily Express.

Despite this current campaign for his side Benfica being his debut season, a few eye catching performances has already seen the talented youngster be dubbed the ‘next Cristiano Ronaldo’.

Although most of the time the 18-year-old has been playing in Benfica’s reserve team – 27 appearances (all starts) – he has made five substitute appearances for the first team in the top flight of Portuguese football – he also made one appearance in the Carlsberg Cup.

The Portugal Under-19 international was due to be a free agent this summer, meaning that Brendan Rodgers and Arsene Wenger were hoping to avoid having to pay a transfer fee for the talented youngster, however, Benfica recently tied Guedes to a new long term deal – it expires in 2021 – and inserted a release fee clause of £40million.
