Arsenal and Manchester City have been dealt a blow in their chase to sign Mauro Icardi following revelations over his intentions to remain at Inter Milan, Express reports.
The 22-year-old has caught the eye of a host of European elites after managing to score 27 goals in all competitions last season.
It is now believed that both Premier League clubs are ready to table an offer for his services in the upcoming January window after yet another impressive start to the campaign.
However, Icardi revealed that he is looking to continue his stay in Italy and is even considering an extension on his deal when the time comes.
“Being at home with my children helps me to cope with everything in a quieter way,” he said.
“I have a contract until 2019 and if the renewal comes, fine.
“In Milan I feel very good, so I chose Inter.”
He has been a prominent figure for Inter boss Roberto Mancini this term as his club sit atop the Serie A table.
The Argentina international has started 14 league matches out of a possible 17 this season, already scoring seven goals while providing another one assist.
