Former Bayern Munich star Giovane Elber believes that Mario Gotze is currently unhappy at the Allianz Arena, according to reports from Goal.com.
Gotze has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, with the Gunners and Man United both keen on the Germany international.
And it looks like the English duo’s chances have been boosted after the latest comments from Bayern legend Elber, who claims that the former Borussia Dortmund ace is not enjoying his time under manager Pep Guardiola.
“There is a huge difference between how he played for Dortmund and how he plays for Bayern,” Elber told AZ.
“You play different when you feel happy somewhere. Everything seems to go automatically then. When you are unhappy somewhere, you put too much thought into everything you do. And things simply don’t work out then.
“I don’t know how his relationship with Pep Guardiola is, but Gotze looks a bit like a Brazilian to me. You have to flatter him and boost his confidence. You have to tell him that you are there for him to help him.
“It is hard when there are already doubts before the season has even started. Bayern should back him rather than sell him.”
The 23-year-old was expected to become an instant hit after joining Bayern in the summer of 2013, but Gotze has been unable to replicate his impressive performances when he was at Dortmund.
Now Arsenal, Man United, and Serie A giants Juventus are all closely monitoring the attacking midfielder’s situation, and could be the subject of a move before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
