Arsenal and Man United target Ron Vlaar has revealed that he is reconsidering his decision to leave Aston Villa at the end of the season, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The 30-year-old was on the top of his game at the World Cup last year and was linked with a move to both the Gunners as well as United in the summer.
Vlaar’s contract is set to expire at the close of the current campaign, leaving him open to a free transfer elsewhere.
He was believed to not be interested in extending his stay with the Villans, but after his team’s 2-1 FA Cup semi-final victory over Liverpool during the weekend, he seems to have changed his mind over the potential exit.
Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has already worked with the defender during his time in charge of the Netherlands national team and is keen on being reunited with the Villa star.
When he was asked about his chances to remain at the club, he stated that he could still stay, but is more focused on his performance.
“Yes it is possible, ” he said.
“Things have changed for me in the past few months since Sherwood took over.
“Now I just want to play and be important for the team. But getting to the Cup final helps – you can trust me on that.”
