Arsenal and Southampton defensive target Virgil van Dijk is tipped by Celtic manager Ronny Deila to remain at the club after he revealed the defender is currently happy where he is, Daily Mail reports.
The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with Everton, Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion joining the Gunners and the Saints in their search for the highly rated centre-back.
Black Cats boss Gus Poyet is beleived to already be preparing an £8million offer for the January window, but may have to wait after Deila admitted Van Dijk is likely to stay in Scotland.
“He’s worth a lot of money,” he said. “But I am very calm. Virgil is enjoying his football, playing well and when I speak with him he’s happy here. That’s positive. He is such an important player for us.”
The Dutch defender was also linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer as the Scottish club will be doing all they can in hopes of keeping hold of him for as long as they can.
