Arsenal and Spurs battle for Moroccan playmaker

Abdel Barrada

Arsenal and Tottenham have been joined in the race to sign highly rated Getafe midfielder Abdelaziz Barrada by Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow, according to talkSPORT.

The Moroccan playmaker has shone in La Liga this season and has helped minnows Getafe join the race for a Europa League spot.

Arsenal have been long term admirers of the 23 year old and were set to make a sizeable bid this summer depending on how their season finishes.

Tottenham were equally interested and chairman Daniel Levy has been in Spain over the past seven days looking at possible deals.

However, the £17 million rated Barrada is desperate for Champions League football next season which will rule out Lokomotiv Moscow who are struggling in the Russian league but also one of the North London clubs as it seems it will be between them who picks up the coveted fourth spot in the Premier League.
