Arsenal boosted as star attacker tipped for return against Sunderland

Arsenal have been boosted by remarks made by manager Arsene Wenger over the possible return of Alexis Sanchez, Daily Star reports.

The 26-year-old has been out of action for over a month after picking up a hamstring injury, but could now return for the upcoming FA Cup clash against Sunderland.

Wenger revealed in a post match interview following the 1-0 win over Newcastle United at the weekend that Sanchez could make a return this week.

“It’s a possibility [he could play],” he said.

“Alexis Sanchez needs a good test over the next four days and afterwards we will make a decision.”

He suffered the injury back in November during the 1-1 draw with Norwich City, a situation which angered the fans as they believed that he should have been rested for the fixture.

Despite his knock, the Chile international has already registered nine goals and six assists from a total of 20 appearances in all competitions this term.

The Gunners are now top of the Premier League despite a number of injury concerns in their squad so far this season.
