Arsenal boosted as star midfielder set to return ahead of schedule

Arsenal could be given an injury boost after Mesut Ozil revealed he is closing in on his return to full fitness and may be back ahead of schedule, Skysports reports.

The 26-year-old was deemed to be out of action until next year, but could be well on his way to making an apperance during the festive period, a time where his return will be seen as a huge boost for Arsene Wenger.

Ozil said: “I am working every day to get myself fit and I am on the right path now. It won’t be much too much longer before I am back on the pitch.

“I hope to be back training with the whole team again as soon as possible.”

“After a time, you really miss playing football. You miss the ball and just want to play. When you watch the games and think that you could have been playing, and playing well, it makes you miss it, but that’s the way things are.”

The Gunners will face Liverpool this weekend before their busy schedule begins, playing Queens Park Rangers and West Ham United in the space of only a few days before travelling to Southampton on new year’s day.
