Arsenal have been boosted in their chase to sign Celta Vigo star Nolito, who is also a target for Barcelona, according to reports from the Mirror.
Despite interest from the current European champions, the Gunners are set to have a clear path in the race to sign Celta winger Nolito after it was revealed that Barcelona’s financial issues will thwart them making a January move.
Nolito was heavily linked with a transfer in the summer as a replacement for now Chelsea ace Pedro at the Nou Camp, but the Catalans decided to not pursue the Spain international.
However, Arsenal may not face any competition if they attempt a move this January, as Barca’s own club rules and wage bill limit prevents them from meeting Nolito’s £13million buy-out clause.
The Gunners failed to sign any outfield players during the summer to the frustration of Arsenal supporters, and bringing in La Liga’s current second top scorer will do much to appease the Emirates faithful.
Nolito, 28, has made seven appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring five goals and supplying three assists.
