Arsenal boss desperate for England duo to make an impact in Brazil

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that both Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be fit enough to make their mark on the World Cup this summer, as reported by talkSPORT.

The Gunners duo are both currently struggling for fitness with under two weeks until Roy Hodgson names his England squad for Brazil.

Both Wilshere and the Ox are have been in and out of the Arsenal and England squad over the past two years but Wenger is armament that both will be fit enough for the World Cup and that they can be a real positive for Hodgson’s side.

“It is not a gamble if he is completely fit. It is a strengthening of the [England] team,” said Wenger.

“If there was a medical doubt then yes it would be a gamble, but I think he will be completely safe and on that front medically he should be all right.”

“Chamberlain at the moment has an inflamed groin. We will see how he progresses,” the Frenchman added.

“For the World Cup he should be OK. For us, will he come back for the end of the season? I don’t know.”
