Arsenal boss disappointed at defender’s contract struggle

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he can do no more to convince defender Bacary Sagna to stay with the club, as reported by Sky Sports.

The French right back has been Wenger’s main stay in that role since he joined from Auxerre in 2007 although his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

The 31 year old has been offered a new deal, however there has been no reply and with just three games remaining in the season Wenger wants a decision to be made.

Wenger wanted this dealt with in January but Sagna and his representatives have not helped, meaning a summer move could be on the cards.

“At the moment they (talks) are not progressing,” Wenger said.

“We know what we want from him, he knows what is on the table and that is where we are.

“The ball is not in our camp anymore, it is in his camp, and he needs to come back to us.”
