Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has dismissed there being any truth in claims the club are trying to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Javier Hernandez.
The 27-year-old was seen as surplus to requirements at Manchester United last summer, but since his switch to the Bundesliga, ‘Chicharito’ has been in incredible form, scoring 19 goals in just 26 games.
But when asked whether Arsenal are interested in signing Hernandez before the end of the January transfer window, Wenger denied all speculation in regards to bringing in another attacker amid his array of choices.
“No (there’s nothing in it),” he is quoted by the Daily Star.
“We have Welbeck coming back and Sanchez is back and we have Giroud and Walcott.
“We have quality and the number of players we need.”
The Gunners will host Southampton at the Emirates next week as they aim to catch up to league leaders Leicester City, who are ahead of Wenger’s men by three points before their home clash against Liverpool at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday.
