Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is said to have held talks with Geoffrey Kondogbia over a potential move from Monaco, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The 22-year-old is also being tracked by a number of top European sides, with Serie A giants Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter Milan all interested.
However, the Gunners are still believed to be in pole position to sign the midfielder after respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that Wenger has already met with the player.
“Both Inter and Milan are competing to sign him, but now face competition from Arsenal,” he said.
“Wenger holds Kondogbia in high regard, the two have already talked.”
Kondogbia is currently being compared to club legend Patrick Vieira due to his physical abilities and style of play.
With Wenger still in the market for another anchorman to play in front of his back four, the France international looks to be the perfect fit.
He has been a regular feature for Monaco the previous term, playing 33 times in all competitions, scoring a total of two goals in the process.
