Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has praised his players after their comprehensive 3-0 win over Manchester City in the Community Shield, Mirror reports.
The Gunners outclassed the Premier League champions to win their first silverware of the season at Wembley on Sunday, with Wenger adamant they will be challenging for the title this season.
Goals from Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey put the Londoners up before half-time and Olivier Giroud scored the third with a stunning long range effort.
And Wenger is confident that this coming campaign he has the firepower to push his men into contention for more silverware.
“I have more attacking options than I’ve had for a long time – that’s for sure,” he said.
“Three, four, five years ago every year we lost a big player.
“In the last two years we’ve added players, like Mesut Ozil and Sanchez, which of course strengthens the squad. Sanchez was lively.
“I felt we had the complete performance in the first half.
“To win gives us a positive platform to prepare. You want to win the game and you want to look at the quality of the performance as well.
The Gunners manager also had praise for new signing Alexis Sanchez, who they purchased from Barcelona for £32million this summer.
“He is still not completely ready physically, but very exciting.
“He is always dangerous, always a threat. He gives us great qualities on counter-attacking as well. Sanchez can play on both sides.”
Arsenal will face Crystal Palace at the Emirates in the first fixture of the Premier League this coming weekend.
